Leavetown: Holiday Booking & TripAdvisor Integration
The fantastic success of the mini-site we produced, and its effect on the business has led to Leavetown asking us to redesign their main website. This challenge we happily accepted.
Leavetown are a fresh, exciting Canadian-based holiday rental company who provide premium outdoor escapes for families, companies and friends. Looking to expand their online presence, Leavetown approached stickee to design a creative, user-friendly extension to their website to help them reach a wider market.
With their main site showcasing holiday deals, Leavetown needed a site to display a unique selling point that would differentiate them from their competition; they wanted to create a new section showcasing discounted bookings for local activities. This required a fast loading page, as their current website had a poor page loading speed, and a system which enabled providers to manage their own reservations.
Whilst the local activities site is independent to the main site, it needed to maintain the branding of the company’s main site. More importantly, the site needed to be simple and quick enough for providers to manage themselves.
As Leavetown wanted to use the provider portal to sign up suppliers on a road trip that they had already scheduled, it was imperative that the project was completed within the deadline. After gathering priorities and requirements from Leavetown, we began our collaborative approach to the project.
We first created initial user journey’s and wireframes of the provider portal and held several feedback meetings in order to fine tune and ensure the best possible experience for the end user. After we had agreed upon the design for the provider portal, we started development on this area whilst we carried on the design process for the front end of the site.
To eradicate the issue of a slow page load times, we built the site on a sub-domain which we host with the aim of delivering content as quickly as possible no matter where the user is visiting from.
With the new portal available for Leavetown to share with activity providers, they managed to sign up an impressive 45 suppliers in one month, which exceeded expectations. Hosting the site independently has led to a much-improved page load speed of 733 ms and a surprisingly low average page size of 1.2 MB, considering the image-heavy branding of the site.
