Raise awareness of the brand and develop an online journey that would ease the call volume at their call centre without dropping sales
From their humble beginnings as a store on Baker Street to now being one of Europe’s largest telecommunications retailers, Carphone Warehouse have come a long way. These mobile giants have trusted stickee to support their online journey on multiple projects since 2007.
The Carphone Warehouse Business site began as a one page website, the only function of which was to build an online presence for the business arm of the company. When it was decided that they wanted to do more with the site, the company turned to stickee for help.
The initial goal was to help raise awareness of the brand and develop an online journey that would ease the call volume at their call centre without dropping sales. But whilst the brief for this project was initially small, we have developed and extended the functionality of the site to serve multiple purposes over time.
As Carphone Warehouse’s business site had been located on a subdomain of the main consumer site, it received little to no SEO benefit – and because of that, we have had to build up the authority of the site from scratch.
In order to establish an online face for the company, stickee introduced blogs and content onto the new site which helped create a unique brand identity, while forming an ‘advice’ section eased the workload on their call centres and provided their customers with easily accessible information at any time of day. From there, we continued to expand the site to include a self-serve portal for customers, where they can put together their own quotes for up to five handsets. This has allowed smaller companies to visit the site and order directly without the hassle of calling up, and gave the sales team more time to deal with larger, more complex quotes.
The backend of the website includes a content management system where the business can set minimum margins for their products and edit and create new content for the site, as well as an internal sales tool which the tele-sales team use to create their quotes.
The site is currently in the first page of Google for 100% of its top 100 keywords, and the information on the site along with an intuitive user journey and a page load time of 1.52 seconds have led to an increase in orders. Manual processes have also been significantly shortened due to systems we have put in place, saving the company time and money, and alleviating pressure from their tele-sales team.
Due to its success, we have developed and extended the functionality of the site to serve multiple purposes, and we continue to work alongside Carphone Warehouse Business to enhance the user experience and optimise traffic on the site to drive conversion.
