There’s much more to RnD than playing games in a virtual reality environment, or exploring animated AR content management systems, but exploring cutting edge technology is also fun, interesting and does have some perks!

Augmented and Virtual Reality

stickee has built Augmented reality projects since 2008 and with the latest generation of Virtual Reality devices, such as the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Playstation VR we are now producing games and applications for the new platforms. Virtual Reality has been in the making for many years. But with recent innovations in both hardware and software, 2016 certainly seems to be the year of VR. High profile products such as the Oculus Rift (purchased by Facebook for a reported $2 billion), the HTC Vive and Sony Playstation VR have rocketed virtual reality into the public domain. In essence virtual reality is defined as the computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way. This involves (currently) the use of equipment such as headsets, to immerse you in  360 degree, 3 dimension environment.

Not to be confused with Augmented Reality (which we will discuss later), Virtual Reality has emerged largely with obvious gaming possibilities, but is widely being adopted and developed for a much wider range of applications. Education, experiences, training, history, literature, arts and entertainment are being explored by the expanding VR world and offer a whole new medium to design, develop and experience.

You can try to define and explain VR until the cows come home, but the only real way of understanding its possibilities is to step into it and experience it for yourself.
